Im offiziellen Facebook kann man in den "Die Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)" Original Motion Picture Soundtrack reinhören... Und Glamour meldet...
Kristen Stewart has revealed that the sex scene she filmed with Robert Pattinson in Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was originally so explicit, it was rated R (the equivalent of a UK film rating 15).
Speaking exclusively in the December issue of GLAMOUR, she said of the steamy role: "It was so weird, it didn't even feel like we were doing a Twilight film. I was like, 'Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!'
"It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They re-cut it."
But that wasn't the only scene that was a little strange for K-Stew. The wedding scene, she explained, saw her placed under strict observation in order to protect details of the dress from being released.
"I had to be shrouded in secrecy the entire two days of filming," she said.
"It was crazy... I was on full lockdown, as if I was wearing millions of dollars' worth of diamonds."

Bei CS! gibt es Infos zum US-Rating...
Maybe it isn't that big a surprise to some or most, but it is official that Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, directed by Bill (Dreamgirls) Condon, has received a rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) of "PG-13," just like the previous three movies.
This rating is based on "disturbing images, violence, sexuality/partial nudity and some thematic elements" according to the MPAA label, so presumably they found a way to film some of the more controversial aspects of Stephenie Meyers' final book in a way that didn't get the movie a deadly R-rating. Production schedule for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn", filming begins Monday, November 8, 2010 and wraps photography April 22, 2011.
Empire weiss mehr über die "Breaking Dawn"-Besetzung...
[...] The Wire's Bunk, aka actor Wendell Pierce, has signed up to join the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, to play an as-yet unnamed character.
He's one of eight new names announced for the film today by Summit, including Olga Fonda, Janelle Froehlich, Masami Kosaka, Sebastiao Lemos, Amadou Ly, Ty Olsson and Carolina Virguez. [..] But a couple of these people work principally in South American TV, so we're guessing that they're either part of the Amazonian Coven of vampires, or merely people that Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) meet on their journey to their honeymoon destination on a Brazilian island. [...]

Deadline weiss mehr über die "Breaking Dawn"-Besetzung...
[...] The Amazon Coven is comprised of Tracey Heggins as Senna and Judi Shekoni as Zafrina.
Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle. [...]
The Egyptian Coven is comprised of
Omar Metwally (RENDITION, MUNICH) as Amun.
Andrea Gabriel (Lost, House) as Kebi.
Rami Malek (NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) as Benjamin.
Angela Sarafyan (LOVE HURTS, THE GOOD GUYS) as Tia.
Stephenie Meyer schreibt auf Facebook...

Heat Vision meldet...
[...] The vampire coven known as the Denali clan has been cast for Summit’s "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," which is being adapted into two movies to be directed by Bill Condon.
MyAnna Buring -- the star of "The Descent" who had her own coven in "Lesbian Vampire Killers" -- Mia Maestro and Casey LaBow are the female members of the undead family. Christian Camargo is the patriarch.
Buring and LaBow will join the recently cast Maggie Grace as a trio of Russian vampire sisters of the Denali coven. Buring is playing Tanya, a rival to Kristen Stewart’s Bella for the attention of Edward (Rob Pattinson), while LaBow will play Kate, who has the ability to produce an electric current that can shock opponents. (Grace is playing villainous Irina.)
Maestro portrays Carmen and Camargo is Eleazar, the two Spanish heads of the coven, which in the "Twilight" universe is the only other non-human-feeding vampire clan besides the the Cullen clan.
A November start is being prepped.
The first of the "Breaking Dawn" movies is slated to be released in theaters Nov. 18, 2011, with the second one coming Nov. 16, 2012.
Buring, repped by Ken McReddie Associates and Elevate Entertainment, also appeared in Neil Marshall’s "Doomsday" and was featured in Edgar Wright’s fake trailer "Don’t," which was part of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s film "Grindhouse."
Maestro, repped by ICM and Tavistock Wood Management, is best known for her work on "Alias."
LaBow, who has appeared in "CSI: NY" and an episode of the short-lived vampire TV show "Moonlight," is repped by IFA Talent.
Camargo, repped by Innovative Artists, may be best known for playing a serial killer on Showtime’s "Dexter."
Hollywood Insider meldet...
It’s a big day for Twihards. First Maggie Grace signs on to play Irina. Now EW.com has learned that little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesmee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.
Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue. But to see Foy’s angelic face, which could very well be the offspring of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, check out her website.
Maggie Grace will play a new vampire threat to Kristen Stewart's Bella in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Grace, who played Liam Neeson's in-distress daughter in Taken, will play the role of Irina in the final installments of the Stephenie Meyer novel, which director Bill Condon is directing in two separate films.
Irina is a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other "vegetarian" vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events. The first of two pictures will be released by Summit Entertainment on November 18, 2011, followed by the finale on November 16, 2012. Melissa Rosenberg is writing both scripts, and Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Meyer are producing. [...]
Rami Malek, one of the stars of the recent miniseries "The Pacific" has joined the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, reports ET.
Malek will play Benjamin, an Egyptian vampire with the power to control the four elements (earth, fire, air and water). A member of the Egyptian Coven (which also includes the yet-to-be-cast Amun, Kebi, and Tia) Benjamin and his brethren travel to Forks in the fourth book to serve as witnesses on behalf of the Cullens.
Malek is also slated to appear in the upcoming Tom Hanks film Larry Crowne.
Breaking Dawn begins production soon in Vancouver and Louisiana and will be released as two films, shot back to back. Both are planned for November releases with the first part in 2011 and the second in 2012.
Summit Entertainment announced today that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 will open in theaters on November 16, 2012, which is a full year after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 hits theaters (Nov. 18, 2011).
Directed by Bill Condon from scripts by Melissa Rosenberg, the two-parter stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed and Billy Burke.
Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be filmed in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Vancouver over the next year starting this fall. The next chapter of "The Twilight Saga" will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011.
Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.
The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing. [...]
CS! berichtet über die US-Kinocharts...
[...] The 4th of July weekend saw the release of Summit Entertainment's anticipated threequel The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, reuniting Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner with new director David Slade at the helm for the third movie based on Stephenie Meyer's popular supernatural romance. It started off its six-day extended run by setting a new Wednesday record with $68.5 million (essentially making back its production costs), dropping drastically on Thursday, then adding another estimated $82.5 million over the four-day holiday weekend including estimates for Monday for a six-day total of $175.3 million. $9 million of that gross came from IMAX screenings, while internationally, Eclipse brought in $100.2 million in 42 countries over the three-day weekend.
The most interesting comparison for Eclipse is Spider-Man 2, which was released in the same manner over Fourth of July in 2004. The "Spider-Man" sequel opened weaker with $40.4 million on its Wednesday then grossing $88.1 million over the three-day weekend, almost twice its opening day, and then setting a new record for the holiday, one that Eclipse failed to surpass. Eclipse essentially made the same in its first three-day weekend as its opening day due to its record $30 million from midnight screenings on Tuesday night. While Spider-Man 2 went on to gross $373 million, Eclipse is more likely to end up in the $300 mil. range. [...]
Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse earned an estimated $68.5 million its first day which is a new record for a Wednesday opening, surpassing previous record holder Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($62 million). The third installment debuted in a record 4,416 theaters.
While the opening day is not as big as The Twilight Saga: New Moon's record of $72.7 million, if the estimate holds it would still be the second-best single day and opening day ever and would knock The Dark Knight ($67.2 million) to third.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse cost about $68 million to make, but that's not counting the promo campaign for the film. [...]
CS! berichtet über den erfolgreichen US-Kinostart...
Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has already set two records - widest release ever and biggest midnight opening.
The third film in the franchise earned more than $30 million from about 4,000 theaters at midnight, a figure that will be added to the Wednesday grosses. The previous midnight record was held by The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which opened to $26.3 million. "Eclipse" earned about $1 million from 192 IMAX theaters at midnight, a new record for the company.
The David Slade-directed film expands today into a record 4,416 North American theaters which is the widest release ever, surpassing Iron Man 2's 4,380 theaters in May.

Added author Stephenie Meyer, "I'm so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he's going to be a great fit, and I'm excited to see what he does with the material."
"I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book - and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience," said Bill Condon.

Deadline Hollywood titelt "'Twilight' Saga's Final Book 'Breaking Dawn' Will Be Made Into 2 Back-To-Back Movies With "High End" Helmer/s"...
I have this from several sources, and it's definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at "high end" directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer's 4-book series lengthwise and it's the most graphic -- presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites. Published on August 2, 2008, it has a happy ending for most of the characters. Divided into 3 parts, the 1st and 3rd sections are told from the point of view of Bella (Kristen Stewart), and the second section from the perspective of Jacob (Taylor Lautner). It prominently features all 3 favorite characters including Edward (Robert Pattinson). Summit Entertainment no doubt will save money by making these Twilight Saga movies #4 and #5 back to back. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who's written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn. Eclipse, the 3rd movie, will be released on June 30th. Meanwhile, Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced last month that it will publish the first volume in the graphic novel adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight on March 16th. Due to the length of the prose novel, the book will be divided into 2 volumes and the release date for the second volume is forthcoming. Containing selected text from Meyer's original novel with illustrations by Korean artist Young Kim, it's a fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques in mostly black-and-white with color interspersed throughout. Novelist Meyer consulted throughout the artistic process and had input on every panel.

[...] In their third weekend facing each other, Warner Bros.' The Sandra Bullock-starrer, made for just $29 million, dropped 49% in ticket sales from Thanksgiving weekend.
"New Moon" added $15.7 million, a drop of 63.4%, to take its three-week domestic total to $255.6 million. Internationally, the Twilight sequel earned another $40.7 million for a foreign sum of $314.5 million and impressive worldwide total of $570.1 million. [...]
Wie Mike Fleming bei Variety.com schreibt, denkt man bei Summit Entertainment sehr laut darüber nach, den letzten Band als Zweiteiler in die Kinos zu bringen...
The two-week $481 million worldwide gross of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" has put Summit Entertainment into the big leagues.
It has also created high class challenges for toppers Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. As they come down from blockbuster euphoria, they are going to have to cut checks larger than most indie companies ever do if they move ahead with a plan to break Stephenie Meyer’s finale, "Breaking Dawn," into two pictures.
Sources said Summit has so far only gone as far as setting scribe Melissa Rosenberg--who wrote the first three films--to finish the series, but Summit has to clear several hurdles before telling Rosenberg if she should write one scripts or two.
Among those hurdles is figuring out whether "New Moon" director Chris Weitz will respond favorably to overtures from the film company and the cast to return and shoot two more films, back to back.
Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said that the film company wants to go the two-film route, which means re-opening negotiations and getting approval from the author. It also means making new deals with a principal cast that is only locked up for four films. If "Breaking Dawn" becomes two pictures, all of the key cast members will get fat raises, and the three principals - Rob Pattinson, Kristin Stewart and Taylor Lautner - could land eight-figure paydays. [...]

It has earned $230.7 million in total since opening last week, 22% more than the previous installment grossed in its entire theatrical run. The popular supernatural romance also continues to do well internationally, having grossed roughly $85 million in other regions this weekend, adding up to a total worldwide gross of $473.7 million in just ten days. [...]
Heute startet "Twilight 2 - Biss zur Mittagsstunde" in den deutschen Kinos...
[...] There was little question last week that the second chapter of Stephenie Meyers' supernatural romance drama The Twilight Saga: New Moon with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson would open big, but after setting a new midnight record on Thursday and a new single day record on Friday with $72.7 million, it has left even the most jaded critic of the franchise flabbergasted at how well the movie performed. In its first three days, "New Moon" grossed an estimated $140.7 million, the third-biggest opening weekend domestically of all time with a per-site average of just under $35,000 per venue, the fourth largest per-theater average for a wide release. The movie also surpassed the previous November opening record for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by a wide margin. Essentially, it grossed almost exactly twice the opening weekend gross of the first Twilight exactly a year ago. The first installment went on to gross roughly $190 million, but with so much clear frontloading to Friday, it's difficult to tell how well the sequel will hold up compared to the original movie. With Thanksgiving and the holidays coming up, it should be able to at least get to $300 million in its theatrical run, which once again puts it up against the "Harry Potter" franchise, the sixth installment which is currently the #2 movie of the year with $301.8 million. On top of that, the Chris Weitz-directed epic took in $118.1 million internationally in 25 markets for a total global take in just three days of $258.8 million. [...]

[...] "You've got the werewolves coming in," said Weitz, "and the effects are going to be great on that part of the movie. Also, there's more fighting and that should appeal to the boys. There is also a male character, Jacob, who is inherently a more viable character for most boys because he's like an ordinary guy. He works on cars, whereas Edward is a perfect man, and maybe he only appeals to perfect men. That makes the demographic rather small! So there's more of a way into this one - we do hope to up the male demographic!"
Lautner, who's put on a huge amount of muscle to bulk up for the role, said of his role, "In Twlight, Jacob is this happy-go-lucky kid, but in New Moon when he shapeshifts into his wolf self, he becomes a totally different person. It was almost a split personality in the same movie and sometimes even in the same day." [...]

MTV.com berichtet über den 3. Teil...
If Ashley Greene, Taylor Lautner and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg can spill anything about what fans can expect from "Eclipse," it's that they can expect it to be dark and gory. And for fans of director David Slade, not to mention people who've read "Eclipse," this should be completely unsurprising.
"David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks," Rosenberg told E! Online. "The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it."
Slade, who follows Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke in the director's chair for the franchise, may be putting his slant on the story, but fans will still find common ground between "Eclipse" and the other two flicks already shot in the "Twilight Saga." "They have the continuity of having the same writers and same actors, but the directors put their own stamp on it," Rosenberg added. "They'll be similar, but very different."
Rosenberg's comments about the film echo what stars Ashley Greene and Taylor Lautner have shared with MTV News about what the "Hard Candy" and "30 Days of Night" director has in mind for "Eclipse."
"I think it'll be different," Greene said. "He's ... a little more focused on it being real and maybe it being gorier and a little dark and kind of dramatic. ... There's going to be a lot more focus on [action], and the fight scene will have more emphasis on it. I definitely think it will be a little more guy-friendly."
Lautner agreed, saying they are "bumping it up another level" this time around. "[Slade's] a lot different, but I think he's going to add a cool taste to the movie," he explained. "It might be a little darker."

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. Summit, which had no comment Wednesday, is expected to make the official announcement soon. The minimajor recently gave "Eclipse" a release date of June 30, 2010.
Bayona's a protege of Guillermo Del Toro. He directed the Spanish-language horror-thriller "The Orphanage," which was exec produced by Del Toro, and is attached to helm the Universal thriller "Hater," with Del Toro and Mark Johnson producing.
Summit's opted for a different director on each "Twilight" pic. Chris Weitz replaced "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke on "New Moon." It's (finally!) official: Dakota Fanning is getting her fangs.
The 15-year-old actress is set to star in New Moon as Jane - a sinister vampire with an angelic exterior who works for the Volturi, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirms to PEOPLE.
Filming of Twilight sequel is set to begin in Vancouver later this month. The movie hits theaters in November.
"We did just get a script. We're shooting the rest of the films back to back," says Nikki Reed, who plays Rosalie Hale in the film. "(Director) Chris Weitz is amazing and I think it's going to be wonderful."
As Summit Entertainment looks to lock in a director for the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, the company is talking to a select group of directors -- including actress-turned-helmer Drew Barrymore, EW has learned. While this news may come as a surprise to some, Barrymore did just finish work on her directorial debut, Whip It! starring Ellen Page. Neither Summit nor Barrymore's reps would comment for this story.

[...] filmmakers have been considering the idea of casting 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord as Heidi in the upcoming New Moon, the much-anticipated sequel to Twilight.
Heidi isn't a major character in the book, but McCord definitely has the gorgeous looks to pull it off.
The character is a "fisher" who brings humans to the Volturi vampires to eat. She's also known as "bait" because of the way she uses her stunning looks to attract humans. In her brief appearance in the book, Bella describes Heidi as having "exceptional, unforgettable" beauty. She has stunning legs, long hair and violet eyes.
Sources tell me McCord has auditioned for the role. "It's not a big part," one of the sources said. "Heidi would be more like a cameo."
McCord should feel pretty comfortable on the set. Her 90210 costar Kellan Lutz - and rumored real-life boyfriend - played Emmett in Twilight and will return for the sequel.
McCord's rep did not immediately comment nor did a rep for the studio, Summit Entertainment.
Director Chris Weitz is expected to start shooting the flick with Robert Pattinson & Co. next month in Washington state and Italy with a Nov. 20 release date. Earlier this week, word leaked out that Summit and director Chris Weitz were wooing actress Dakota Fanning for a role in New Moon, the next chapter in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.
ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke with Fanning today and she confirmed she is circling the film. "I really hope that works out," she says. "I think it's too soon to tell right now, but it'd be really fun. I'm a huge fan." Rumor has it that Weitz is hoping to snag her for the part of Jane, a deadly Italian vampire.
As principal photography is expected to begin in the couple of months we'll likely be hearing more on Fanning's participation soon.

Dakota Fanning...with fangs?
It's possible. I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star - she turns 15 on Feb. 23 - is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.
"There were no auditions," a source reveals. "They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth."
Jane is a member of Italy’s Volturi, the most deadly group of bloodsucking killers in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series.
In the casting notice we got our hands on earlier this month, Jane is described as a petite blonde with a "Botticelli angel-like face... [and] crimson irises." While fellow Volturi guards Demetri & Felix "are three times the size of her, they are terrified of her," the casting notice reads.
Coincidentally (or maybe not), an online petition started by a Twilight fan already asks the studio, Summit Entertainment, to cast Fanning because she would be "perfect" for the role.
Early last month, Entertainment Weekly suggested Pushing Daisies star and Broadway diva Kristin Chenoweth. "Her voice is certainly high enough, and at 4'11'', she's also short enough," writer Amy Wilkinson proposed.
Director Chris Weitz is expected to start shooting New Moon in March in the U.S. and Italy. If all goes as planned, the movie will hit theaters on Nov. 20. [...]

Despite rumors that he would be replaced, Taylor Lautner will reprise his role as Jacob Black in "New Moon," Summit Entertainment's sequel to its hit "Twilight."
Summit and director Chris Weitz made the announcement Wednesday.
In "New Moon," the Jacob Black character becomes a central figure in the plot as Bella Swan is drawn into the world of the werewolves, the ancestral enemies of vampires.
Weitz noted there has been speculation about whether Lautner could portray the character who goes through many changes physically, including growing taller and bulkier and aging 10 years. The 16-year-old Lautner has been spending time in the gym, trying to add 19 pounds of muscle.
Weitz added that Lautner is "emotionally right" for the part.
Lautner joins castmates Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in "New Moon," set to begin production soon for a Nov. 20 release.
The vampire thriller's a ready-made franchise for Summit with four books in Stephenie Meyer's series, which have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. "Twilight" has grossed over $177 million domestically and another $95 million overseas.
Variety.com liefert den Starttermin des Sequels...
Looking to replicate the box office success that "Twilight" has enjoyed after debuting over Thanksgiving, Summit Entertainment will release sequel "New Moon" on Nov. 20.
The film franchise most associated with Thanksgiving is Warner Bros.' "Harry Potter." But there are only three films left in that series -- and only one bowing over Thanksgiving, in 2010.
Summit caught a lucky break when Warners decided to push back the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" from Thanksgiving 2008 to summer 2009.
There are four books in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling "Twilight" franchise.
The final "Potter" film will likely open in summer 2011.
Through Sunday, "Twilight's" domestic cume was $150 million in its fourth week.
Also slated to open on Nov. 20, 2009, are Warners' "Sherlock Holmes," Sony toon "Planet 51" and MGM's untitled "Three Stooges" project. [...]

[...] MTV News can confirm that 26-year-old "Scorpion King 2" actor Michael Copon [pronounced "COPE-on"] is one of several actors Weitz is considering to play the new, larger Jacob Black. A representative for Copon told us that they're making a full effort to land the high-profile gig. And in a bit of 21st-century self-publicity, the actor has even recently updated his Facebook status with messages like: "Michael Copon [is] in a Twilight Zone!" and "Michael Copon is the older Jacob Black!"
Copon's representative confirmed to MTV News that the Facebook page is run by the actor himself and that those are indeed his words.
Approached for comment on Lautner's omission from the "New Moon" press release, Summit confirmed that it was not a typographical error. "The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made," a representative told MTV News.
But even once Copon (or whoever else) is officially announced as the new Jacob, Weitz still has many other key casting decisions to make and an extremely brief amount of time in which to make them. With barely 12 weeks until cameras are due to begin rolling, the "Golden Compass" filmmaker needs to find faces to portray several key characters - including the peace-keeping, Italian vampires known as the Volturi.
With the buzz building for these roles, MTV News has confirmed that 27-year-old "Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" heartthrob Ben Barnes is throwing his hat into the ring. The actor is already quite popular with the "Twilight" fanbase and shares the same manager as both Copon and "Twilight" star Cam Gigandet. Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose "New Moon" encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together. [...]

"I am honored to have been entrusted with shepherding 'New Moon' from the page to the screen," said Weitz. "The extraordinary world that Stephenie has created has millions of fans, and it will be my duty to protect on their behalf the characters, themes and story they love. This is not a task to be taken lightly, and I will put every effort into realizing a beautiful film to stand alongside a beautiful book." [...]
Production on New Moon is scheduled to begin in the coming months and the studio is planning to release the film towards the end of 2009 or early 2010.
Wie EW.com meldet, wird Chris Weitz die Regie beim Sequel übernehmen...
There will be a new director atop the Twilight franchise: and he'll be a man. Sources tell EW.com that Summit Entertainment is about to hire Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) as the shepherd for New Moon, the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling Twilight series. Weitz is best-known for his work with his brother Paul. The two directed and produced American Pie and then were nominated for an Academy Award for best screenplay for About a Boy, which they also co-directed. Chris' first solo directing gig, The Golden Compass, didn't do well stateside but was a hit internationally.
Twilight, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, has grossed more than $141 million so far, but Hardwicke had clashed with the studio during production. It was announced early this week that she would not be making New Moon. Weitz has a solid relationship with Summit's top brass; he's considered easy to work with and has experience with special effects. "He's the quality-of-life-choice," says one source. While Summit insists "we have not yet signed Chris Weitz to do New Moon," and Weitz's agency says no deal has been signed, other sources say the deal is imminent, and that Summit has stopped negotiations with other potential Moon directors. Summit had planned to announce this hiring decision on Sunday, Dec. 14, and could have Weitz in Vancouver, B.C. as early as Monday to start pre-production on the film.
Wie CS! meldet, steht die Regisseurin Catherine Hardwicke für das Sequel nicht zur Verfügung...
Summit Entertainment and director Catherine Hardwicke jointly announced today that the filmmaker will not be directing the next installment in the newly minted "Twilight" film franchise. Summit's targeted end of 2009 or early 2010 release of the film, New Moon, does not work with Ms. Hardwicke's required prep time to bring her vision of the film to the big screen. Thus as has been done before with many successful film franchises, the studio will employ a new director for New Moon.
"I am sorry that due to timing I will not have the opportunity to direct 'New Moon,'" said Hardwicke. "Directing 'Twilight' has been one of the great experiences of my life, and I am grateful to the fans for their passionate support of the film. I wish everyone at Summit the best with the sequel-- it is a great story."
"Catherine did an incredible job in helping us to launch the 'Twilight' franchise and we thank her for all of her efforts and we very much hope to work with her on future Summit projects," said Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production. "We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next installment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created. We are able to pursue an aggressive time frame as we have the luxury of only adapting the novels into screenplays as opposed to having to create a storyline from scratch."
STYD sprach mit der Regisseurin Catherine Hardwicke über das Sequel...
Shock: [...] Is there anything you'd want to do differently in the Twilight sequels? Somewhere that you didn't go in the first one?
Hardwicke: In the other books, Stephenie [Meyer], like she went in completely different directions too. She created whole new back stories with the werewolves and everything. So in a way they're just automatically different, each book. She took it to a new place. She didn't rest on what was successful in the first book. So that's what I think the film would have to do, just take you on that journey.
Shock: Is there an element of the second book you're especially intrigued or excited by, as far as bringing it to life on screen?
Hardwicke: New Moon's really taking a whole other leap with this new story and there's really a lot of new characters in it. There's the werewolves which is pretty crazy. All the wolves. Then there's also going to Italy in the second book and there's motorcycle riding and cliff-jumping and diving. I love jumping off of cliffs. So it's kind of up my alley - into water, yeah.
Shock: Do you think that you'll do a separate film in between, something away from Twilight?
Hardwicke: I think that what Summit wants to do is make the next one right away so I don't think there's really an in between because we don't want the kids to get any older because they're not supposed to age. They're vampires, man, they've got to stay young! [...]

Yet so big was its week-earlier bow that the modestly budgeted literary adaptation now boasts a mind-bending cume of $119.7 million. [...]

"A lot of the book takes place in Italy, and I think we're going to get to go to Italy, which is so cool," Stewart says. "For a while there, they were like, Oh, we don't know if we have the money, but now I think we may have the money!" [...]
There's one rule in Hollywood that's rarely broken: Pull in big bucks at the box office and a sequel -- or three -- is virtually guaranteed. Of course the ''Twilight'' film's $70 million-plus bonanza this weekend was largely due to a built-in fan base -- thanks to the enormous success of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight novels.
So, not only have deals been cut for a not-unexpected second ''Twilight'' film (based on Meyer's New Moon book), but I've learned a third film is also virtually a done deal, based on Meyer's Eclipse novel -- though that won't be confirmed for some time.
Also, sources say stars Robert Pattinson, 22, and Kristin Stewart, 18, will get huge salary boosts from the $2 million each earned for "Twilight" -- reportedly $10 million more, per film, plus a nice percentage of the future movies' box-office take.
While Pattinson and Stewart are coming back as the romantic vampire Edward Cullen and his young human love Bella Swan, it's not confirmed that director Catherine Hardwicke will be back behind the camera. The director told the AP Sunday, ''I want to be sure that [the second film is] going to be done right. I don't want to rush into it. It's not like 'Friday, the 13th' or 'Halloween,' you can't just do it super fast and knock another one out.'' Hardwicke indicated she wanted to be sure she and the film's producers were on the same page going forward.
The big success of ''Twilight'' also helps ensure Summit Entertainment's position in Hollywood. ''Twilight'' is the new studio's sixth release and only cost $37 million. [...]
Summit Entertainment announced today that the studio is officially moving forward with the production of New Moon, the second installment of its filmed franchise "Twilight," the action-packed, modern day vampire love story. The movie will be based on the second novel in author Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series titled, "New Moon." The first movie in the "Twilight" franchise, the self-titled Twilight, arrived in theaters this weekend to sold-out showings.
Stephenie Meyer stated, "I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had with Summit Entertainment. I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on 'New Moon.'" [...]

Summit Entertainment’s "Twilight" could see an opening day take of $30 million from 3,419 playdates after grossing north of $7 million in Thursday midnight shows.
If so, "Twilight" could land a spot on the top 20 list of best opening day grosses, somewhere between No. 17 and No. 20.
``Twilight'' is expected to open in the $50 million to $60 million range, although it has a shot of ending in the 60s. It depends upon how much traffic slows down from Friday to Saturday.
``Twilight,'' based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer, is No. 3 on online ticketer Fandango's list of top advance ticket sales. Only ``Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith'' and ``The Dark Knight'' sold more. [...]

[...] TWILIGHT is a very sweet and crushingly romantic film, but it’s a lite romantic movie. I guarantee that fans of the book won’t LOVE the movie like they did the book. The reason? Because Hardwicke and the producers of this film didn’t trust in the conversations and the expressions of the characters thoughts. Sure, the movie is 2 hours long and to add in the substance of all those conversations. To do more than just the common cheap exchanging of glances and the hanging out in treetops and saving her from certain death... that takes real courage and real understanding of love.
But that’s why TWILIGHT is simply a good Romantic film, whilst Linklater’s BEFORE SUNSET and BEFORE SUNRISE are amongst the greatest Romantic films. [...]
The surprise of TWILIGHT though is it isn’t vapid. There’s an honest and real spark between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson - and the other actors all show a great deal of charisma as well. This is a very very strong cast. [...]

[...] I would like to advise book fans to go in with an open mind and remember that movie adaptations are never exactly the same as the book due to time constraints. There are some differences, there are some different scenes, there are some different lines. None of it should be perceived as bad until you allow yourself the full experience of the film.
I want to see it again so I can really soak it up and stop thinking, "Ok, they cut that. They added that. Oh, what’s that!?" If I were not a Twilight fan, though, I would still have enjoyed this movie. It’s fun and romantic and even a little dark and twisted, which makes it even sweeter.

With Summit Entertainment preparing to release its big bet "Twilight," the studio is moving potential future installments in the franchise into the development pipeline.
The company has acquired rights to the next three novels in Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster vampire series and has hired "Twilight" scribe Melissa Rosenberg to pen scripts based on "New Moon" and "Eclipse," the second and third books, respectively.
A fourth book, "Breaking Dawn," has not attached a writer.
"Twilight," which revolves around the relationship between an average teenage girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward, in a rainy Northwest town, has been generating huge buzz ahead of its Nov. 21 bow.
Summit, which has been eager for a franchise as it rolls out its distribution slate, hopes that the movie's built-in teen and early-twentysomething audience will get an added boost from older filmgoers.
In "New Moon," Edward leaves Bella, sending Bella into a depression and a friendship with another vampire. In the third book, "Eclipse," that relationship triangle evolves, while evil empires begin to pursue Bella.
"Breaking Dawn" pushes the plot further with a marriage between Bella and Edward.
The UTA- and 3 Arts Entertainment-repped Rosenberg, who also penned "Step Up" and is a writer/co-exec producer on Showtime's "Dexter," has said she was methodical in writing the scripts, choosing not to read future "Twilight" books so she could stay true to the evolution of the characters.

[...] Early tracking of the movie suggests that tween boys like the Cullen vampires almost as much as girls do. That should help Twilight reach at least a $20 million opening weekend - the number the studio probably needs to please in-house accountants. What it requires to greenlight the sequel, New Moon, is another story. Summit won't comment, but Hardwicke guesstimates Twilight must gross $150 million for the studio to approve a follow-up, which will require extensive special effects and location shooting. ''This has to be a crazy hit,'' she says. ''Nobody can say that it can do that well right now.''
Except, maybe, Stephenie Meyer. The author loves the movie, though she had her disagreements with Hardwicke. ''I mostly stepped in on the script level,'' she says. ''You know the line 'So the lion fell in love with the lamb'? It's a bit of a cheesy line, I have to say. They had changed the wording on that, to downplay it a little. And I said, 'I really like how you've changed this, but this line is tattooed on people's ankles. I think you're going to have a problem if you don't do it exactly right.' And they listened to me - and saved themselves the outrage of the people who know these books.''
After seeing the first cut, the author's only real concern was that Edward and Bella's steamy kissing scene was too hot for the beginning of a relationship. ''You're not going to have anything to work with as the series continues,'' Meyer told Hardwicke, who cut the sexy wide shots in exchange for more chaste close-ups. ''In a weird way I think it's better,'' says Hardwicke. ''It's less like other movies.''
Even if they're nervous about admitting it publicly, Summit thinks they've got a hit on their hands. They've already got Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg at work on the sequel. Expect to see a New Moon rising.

[...] Summit Entertainment's CEO Rob Friedman is already readying a Twilight sequel -- even though the vampire tween/tween movie isn't set for release until November 21st which is the date vacated by Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. [...]
But the comparison with Harry Potter ends at cost: Twilight came in at only a $37 million negative cost. This notion of a low-cost blockbuster for a start-up studio just doesn't happen often in the film biz. So if the movie lives up to the advance hype, Summit will be sitting on a big new franchise. How big? Well, the new Twilight trailer played with Quarantine this weekend and as soon as the title came up, a chorus of high-pitched screams of joy emanated from the women in the audience in one Southern California theater. Only to be properly drowned out by a loud chorus of male boos. It's conventional wisdom that boys won't go because there's not enough gory fang action. But Summit is also marketing to an online contingent called Twilight Moms because of the chaste love story set in the picturesque locale of Oregon and directed by thirteen's Catherine Hardwicke. Still, I think Summit is lowballing by hoping for a $20M North American opening weekend from 3,500+ venues.
Like Potter, Twilight has a built-in audience of book fans with, a total 7.5 million domestic sales for all four Stephanie Meyer novels in the series which was a New York Times #1 bestseller for 59 weeks. Not to mention big sales overseas like Italy, Germany and the UK. That's one reason Twilight is opening day and date in 10 territories, including the U.S.
Summit may spend in the high $30sM for P&A. That's a bargain consider skyrocketing marketing costs in the movie biz. That's because indies these days must spend more efficiently than studios by not just attracting long lines at Comic-Con but almost solely relying on My Space and other social networks instead of costly TV ads. Look, for example, at how Summit rolled out the new trailer. First, Nancy Kirkpatrick (one of the best in the biz) heightened fan anticipation by creating a countdown clock to the widget. Then came the trailer's free debut on Entertainment Tonight. That night, Summit gave fans a special opportunity to see it online first as a way of thanking them for their support. The trailer was streamed through Twilight's widget from 8 PM to 9 PM for fans, then debuted for the general audience in HD on MySpace Trailer Park at 9 PM. The result: 2 million views in the first 24 hours on MySpace alone and 3.5 million views in cyberspace within the first 48 hours. [...]

[...] After the release of "Breaking Dawn" earlier this month, fans were left with just one more piece of Stephenie Meyer's vampire saga to look forward to: "Midnight Sun," the "Twilight" story told from the perspective of Edward. But the hope of seeing more of those iconic red-white-and-black covers in stores may have been dashed this week, due to an online leak of the unfinished novel. On StephenieMeyer.com, the author announced that the incident has been so upsetting, she is putting the book on hold indefinitely.
"I have a good idea of how the leak happened, as there were very few copies of 'Midnight Sun' that left my possession, and each was unique," Meyer says in the post, adding that she believes the individual she gave this copy to had "no malicious intent with the initial distribution."
After an explanation of how the leak violates her copyright, Meyer breaks the sad news. "My first feeling was that there was no way to continue ['Midnight Sun']," she says. "Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write 'Midnight Sun' now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on 'Midnight Sun,' and so it is on hold indefinitely."
But there is a tiny silver lining for fans. Rather than reward whoever leaked the draft, Meyer decided to post it on her own site. "This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest," she reasons. "I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the 'Twilight' story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place."
And though she says "the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes," the PDF file contains 264 pages of Forks through Edward's eyes.
The novel was originally meant to be just a writing exercise for Meyer. And the author seemed a bit fed up with some Twilighters' obsessive, critical nature after the release of "Breaking Dawn."
"For all intents and purposes, 'Breaking Dawn' is the last book," she told MTV News. "It might easily happen that I quit here. There'd be a lot of good reasons for doing that, so I don't know if we need to get into all the future possibilities and speculations, 'cause I'll just go crazy, and I'm so close already!" [...]

Capone berichtet für AICN über die Präsentation auf der Comic-Con...
[...] The panel began with an extended scene from near the end of the film, in which James terrorizes Bella using a video camera and a lot of brute force. She is saved by Edward, and the two get into a fairly brutal physical battle. The scene actually played well, and not just to the choir. The fight was fairly bitchin' and James really looked like he was on the verge of causing Bella some serious damage. The beginning of the scene almost plays out like a rape in the making, and that added a level of tension to the sequence. James tosses her around a dark room, and eventually gets right in her face with the camera and asks her to show him fear as he declares her "very visually dynamic." When Edward breaks up the moment, the crowd went nuts. But who am I to judge? I did like it when Stewart said that she "got off" on the physicality of the chosen sequence.
Normally, I'd try to give you a detailed account of some of the highlights from the panel and audience Q&A, but when you're dealing with people who ask questions such as, "Boxers, briefs, or nothing?" to male cast members, I think I was doomed not to get any revealing information from this event. The one interesting elements to the discussion occurred when the topic of doing the sequel came up. In a weird move, pretty much everybody connected with the film only signed to do one movie, so contract negotiations are probably in the works. Most of the actors seemed game to be in future films in this series, and Hardwicke certainly seemed to enjoy her time making the film. But apparently nothing is set in stone. One question was asked about on-set surprises, and Stewart told an interesting story about an improvised moment when she stuck her finger in Edward's mouth and said something like "Have a taste." She wasn't sure if the ad-lib would make the final film, but based on the slightly orgasmic reaction to her telling the story, Hardwicke should probably consider using it. [...]
