FILME A-Z
"South Park - Der Film: Grösser, länger und ungeschnitten" (1999) ist die Kinovariante der erfolgreichen Zeichentrick-Serie "South Park", die absolut (aber auch absolut) nix für Kinder ist... Trey Parker und Matt Stone (u.a. "Team America") wissen, wie man es anstellt...

Nachdem die Entführung eines kanadischen Komikerduos durch moralisierende "Mütter gegen Kanada" zum Krieg zwischen Kanada und den USA führte, liegt es an den Kindern von South Park, die Welt zu retten... Natürlich...

Ob ein neuer "South Park"-Film in die Kinos kommen wird, steht noch in den Sternen, möglicherweise als krönender Abschluss der Serie - und die wird mindestens bis 2016 fortgesetzt...

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have reached a new deal with Comedy Central to extend cable's longest-running animated series, "South Park," it was announced today by Michele Ganeless, president, Comedy Central. The deal for three additional seasons ensures the top-rated Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series will remain in original episodes through 2016 and a milestone 20th season. Parker and Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode of "South Park," as they have since the premiere of the series in 1997.
"The collective genius of Matt and Trey knows no bounds," said Ganeless. "Week after week and season after season they continue to surprise and delight 'South Park' fans, and that includes all of us here at Comedy Central. We're thrilled that the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will continue through 2016."
"Comedy Central has been our home for 15 years and we love working there," said Parker and Stone. "'South Park' is a blast and we can't wait to make more."
"South Park," which wraps its 15th season tonight, averaged over 3.5 million viewers per episode during its most recent season (most current data), in which it was the #1 show in all of television among Men 18-24 in Wednesday Prime and the #1 show in cable among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 18-24, Men 18-34 and Men 18-24 in Wednesday Prime.
"South Park" launched on August 13, 1997 and premiered its 15th season on April 27, 2011. Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are executive producers, along with Anne Garefino. Frank C. Agnone II is the supervising producer. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell and Vernon Chatman are producers.

[...] Though Parker says the production of Team America: World Police "killed the movie spirit" in him and Stone, they may consider returning to the feature format to end South Park once and for all. He told The Los Angeles Times, "We talked about maybe some day doing a movie to sort of end it all, and that seems like the best idea. That's been a big thought to do the last show as a movie."
But it might not necessarily be a theatrical release, Parker says, and they've had an idea for a movie before that actually got worked into the show. Plus, they have a contract for the show 2011, and haven't even decided if that's when the end point will come. But Parker promises, ""We always said, When we feel like we don't want to write the show anymore, ourselves, then it's time to end the show." [...]

South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have agreed to a three-season extension for cable's top-rated animated series and entered into a joint venture with Comedy Central to create South Park Digital Studios, it was announced today by Doug Herzog, president, MTV Networks' Entertainment Group, a division of Viacom's MTV Networks. The strategic alliance includes the formation of a digital animation studio at "South Park" headquarters in Los Angeles that will serve as the new home for all digital extensions of the "South Park" franchise as well as an incubator for new animated projects.
"This extension and the formation of the joint venture are the beginnings of a new era for 'South Park' and Comedy Central and a natural evolution of our long-term and prosperous relationship with Trey and Matt," said Herzog. "With the new partnership in South Park Digital Studios and the creation of the digital animation studio, we have a tremendous opportunity to truly maximize the potential of the franchise and the incredible creative talents of Matt and Trey across every imaginable platform."
"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone said: "Three more years of 'South Park' will give us the opportunity to offend that many more people. And since Trey and I are in charge of the digital side of 'South Park,' we can offend people on their cell phones, game consoles, and computers too. It's all very exciting for us."
As part of the agreement, Parker and Stone will produce an additional three seasons (14 episodes per season) of the Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning "South Park," taking the series beyond its current deal, which was set to expire at the end of 2008, to keep new episodes of the show on Comedy Central through 2011. Parker and Stone will continue to write, direct and edit every episode of "South Park," as they have since the premiere of the series in August 1997.
The joint venture of South Park Digital Studios seeks to respond to the new world in a new way. Its goal is to realize fully the potential of the "South Park" franchise and engage fans across all platforms, including exploring opportunities on gaming platforms (console, handheld, online) and a new online home for the series that will create a Web presence equaling the popularity and power of the series' brand. SouthParkStudios.com, the long running official "South Park" fan site, will be expanded and become a major part of the new joint venture. The newly expanded site is scheduled to re- launch during the first quarter of 2008.
South Park Digital Studios will also include a multi-faceted and comprehensive production and development facility featuring an animation studio that will serve as a home for innovation, experimentation and groundbreaking animation for Parker and Stone, as well as other animators. Comedy Central will have a first-look option on any projects developed at the studio.

This is a bit of a shock. Isaac Hayes, the man I believe, is partly responsible for the success of "South Park" is leaving the show. He played, as you’ll all probably know, ‘Chef’ for the past decade.
No longer will you be able to suck on his ‘chocolate salty balls’ though, as the musician/actor has decided to close up Chef’s kitchen for good.
Surprisingly, because he has stayed with the show through pretty much every other controversial moment, Hayes is leaving because he feels the show has "embarked upon what he feels are inappropriate ridicule of religious communities."
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins." Mr. Hayes stated, "religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."
A rather unappreciative Matt Stone, co-creator of the show, bit back, saying "This is 100% having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem -- and he's cashed plenty of checks -- with our show making fun of Christians."
In an episode that aired last year, "South Park" attacked the religion of Scientology as well as taking a boot to Tom Cruise, John Travolta and anyone else that bows to L.Ron.
Stone reckons he "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."
If it were April 1st, I’d swear it was ruse, but it’s clearly not: "Children, where’s the exit?".

[...] Comedy Central has inked a deal with the creators of "South Park" to bring the long-running animated series back for three more seasons, the network announced Thursday. Executive producers Matt Stone and Trey Parker will write, direct, and edit 42 more episodes of "South Park." Currently in its ninth season, "Park" will stay put through 2008. "I was at Comedy Central when we launched the first season of 'South Park' and I am thrilled to see them continue through 2008," says Herzog. "Matt and Trey are creative geniuses and a huge part of the Comedy Central family and we look forward to continued success." A new season of "South Park" begins Oct. 19. [...]

[...] they had a question and answer session with Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Two of the coolest guys I've ever met. Anyway someone asked if there will ever be a South Park movie. They said yes, that it was in the works and it was slated to come out next summer. But here's the kicker...it seems that the deal they made with Paramount allowed them to call the shots. So, in order for South Park to made Paramount had to allow Matt and Stone to an "R" rated version of SP!! Or they wouldn't do it!! Paramount tried to get them change but they said no dice. So they said next summer we can expect an "R" rated version of South Park!!
