MTV Movie Blogs meldet...
Fans of "Sex and the City" know all about Mr. Big. Now get ready to meet Mr. Biggest. MTV has learned that Michael Patrick King will direct the long-awaited big-screen adaptation of the popular HBO series. An Emmy winner and executive producer for the show, the movie will mark his cinematic debut.
"Michael Patrick King was kind of the creative force behind that show, [and] he’s going to be writing and directing the movie," series regular Mario Cantone enthused. "I’ve known him for 24 years. He was always very brilliant. I think he’s one of the best writers and directors in television. With him at the helm, it should be damn good."
While the flick is tentatively scheduled to start filming this fall, Cantone revealed that none of the stars have yet to sign on the dotted line. "They called me about my availability, but nothing’s negotiated," he confessed. "Hopefully if all the negotiations go well, it will happen in the fall. HBO’s just gotta give everybody what they want. It better get done cause I want to do it."
Cantone has reason to be anxious. Alongside Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda, the "Surf’s Up" star told MTV that his character, Anthony Marantino, plays a major role in the eagerly-awaited flick. "‘I need the laughs.’ That’s what Michael Patrick King said to me," Cantone exclaimed. "I for surely know that I’m in it a good amount. That’s exciting."
Digital Spy meldet...
Kim Cattrall has reportedly agreed to appear in a Sex And The City movie.
The team behind the popular TV show has been planning a big screen spin-off since its final episode aired three years ago.
The show ran for six seasons before it ended in 2004, amidst rumours of behind-the-scenes rivalry between Cattrall and her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
However, an insider told Heat: "Kim saw the script and her storyline is so good that she realised she'd be absolutely crazy to refuse.
"The girls had great fun doing the show, so they all realised they'd be silly to turn down a movie."

"Sex and the City" soll nun doch im Kino fortgesetzt werden.
Sex and the City - Kinofilm?

Still holding out hope for a "Sex and the City" movie? Forget it. Sarah Jessica Parker was in New York this weekend to promote her new romantic comedy "Failure to Launch" and confirmed that a 'Sex' movie is probably never going to happen.
"[The chances are] incredibly unlikely. Not likely at all. The pieces didn't [fall in place.] I don't see how... the sets are gone. Everything was there. The script was there, the budget, three of us really wanted to do it. The crew was waiting. HBO was lined up. It was a pretty big budget movie. And you know, it didn't happen. And the sets were literally thrown away in a dumpster. Everything is gone. And I don't think the momentum is there to revisit it now. That was critical timing" Parker told Now Playing Magazine.
THe actress also said that in the long run it might have been better for the legacy of "Sex and the City" that the movie never happened, since the nature of a two-hour film is so inherently different from a seven-year series.
The on-again off-again on-again off-again "Sex and the City" movie might be happening after all.
It was full-speed ahead for a film version of the HBO series last year, but Kim Cattrall decided she'd rather frost sponge cake than get her gear off for a big-screen Samantha outing again, so it didn't come together.
To Cattrall's credit, she apparently didn't want to committ to a film until she was shown a script. "She would have loved to have done the movie and made a deal to do the movie, but waited as long as possible with no script or start date and felt she had to take other offers that were presented to her after the hold period had passed," Cattrall's spokeswoman Marvet Britto said last year. "Kim would of course love to do the film and would be happy to revisit the project in the future."
Now, according to E Online, Cattrall - who has obviously realised 'Samantha' is as good as it gets - is "reconsidering".
The film, from series writer, director and executive producer Michael Patrick King, would again be set in New York, fixing on our four love-beseeching pals, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Samantha (Cattrall).
Durchschnittlich 4,05 Mio., in der Spitze sogar 4,35 Mio. Zuschauer wollten gestern bei ProSieben die letzte Folge von "Sex and the City" sehen. Damit musste sich die US-Kultserie nur der RTL-Daily Soap "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" (4,87 Mio. Zuschauer) und dem RTL-Magazin "Explosiv" (4,18 Mio. Zuschauer) geschlagen geben.
In der werberelevanten Zielgruppe der 14- bis 49-Jährigen ließ "Sex and the City" mit 3,41 Mio. Zuschauern "GZSZ" (2,84 Mio.

The stars of Sex And The City have been bombarding scriptwriters with ways to kill off Kim Cattrall's character Samantha, it's reported.
Cattrall's refusal to take part in a SATC film has left the project dead in the water, but her co-stars are so keen to make the movie that they have been plotting the character's death.
The show's executive producer Michael Patrick King told USA Today: "Now it will never happen."
Variety reports that on Monday, HBO pulled the plug on the Sex and the City feature development after Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the hit series, made it clear she wouldn't commit to the project. The film was to be written and directed by Michael Patrick King.
"She would have loved to have done the movie and made a deal to do the movie, but waited as long as possible with no script or start date and felt she had to take other offers that were presented to her after the hold period had passed," Cattrall spokeswoman Marvet Britto told the trade. "Kim would of course love to do the film and would be happy to revisit the project in the future."
Variety adds that other reasons could have come into play, such as Cattrall wanting script approval and to earn the same amount as Sarah Jessica Parker.
HBO was unwilling to consider replacing Cattrall, or to go through the time and effort of developing a script without her firm commitment.
Dollar, was die angebotenen 5,4 Mio.
While it was recently reported that Sex and the City series writer, director and executive producer Michael Patrick King is writing the script for a big screen feature, King now says a movie is not going to happen.
"Nothing we did in the series was altered to save something for the movie," King said at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. "This is exactly the way we wanted to end the series, we're proud of what we did."
Last month's news also said that HBO was in the process of making deals for stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall to reprise their roles in the film, which King would direct.
The IMDb reports that actress Sarah Jessica Parker has dismissed reports Kim Cattrall has refused to star in the anticipated "Sex and the City" movie - insisting she is the hesitant one.
Throughout the show's history, there's been reports Cattrall and Parker did not get on - leading to this week's talk that Cattrall's reluctance to sign up for the film was due to the feud. However, Parker insists her three co-stars are all ready and willing to do the movie - but she has yet to agree to a deal.
She says, "The other women, to my knowledge, all have deals to make a movie and I'm still figuring that out with my bosses. If we do this movie I think it will be right on the heels of where we left off".
The movie will pick up where the show left off but the movie itself is currently in a little struggle according to The New York Post which indicates cast friction and Kim Cattrall may not be involved.
While the final episode of Sex and the City will air this Sunday, series writer, director and executive producer Michael Patrick King is penning the script for a big screen feature. HBO is in the process of making deals for stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall to reprise their roles in the film, which King would direct.
There's no start date for the film, nor is a theatrical distributor attached, reports Variety. However, the cable channel is exploring all options and could have a greenlighting game plan by the time King turns in his script, which is expected by May.
This would be the feature bow for King, who won an Emmy in 2002 for his direction of the episode "The Real Me." Created by Darren Star in 1998, Sex and the City started as a serial that Candace Bushnell penned for the New York Observer.
