FILME A-Z

Daneben ist das "Pinocchio"-Prequel "The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto" in Planung...

Tim Burton's interest in tackling a live-action version of Pinocchio is heating up, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. And Burton's choice to topline the movie is Robert Downey Jr. as Geppetto, the woodcarver who creates the puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. [...]
In the version being developed at Warner Bros., Geppetto embarks on a quest to reunite with his missing marionette. The well-regarded script is by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. Dan Jinks (American Beauty) is producing.
Neither Burton nor Downey has a deal with Warners, but sources say Burton is keen to direct the film and has begun talks with the studio, so it's just a question of whether Pinocchio will be his next movie. The Alice in Wonderland director also is eyeing an adaptation of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children at Fox, among other projects. Warners wants to move quickly with Pinocchio, so if Burton chooses to make another movie first, the studio might move on to other directors.
According to two well-placed sources, Downey has expressed serious interest in the project (and in working with Burton), but his busy schedule must still be worked out. Warner Bros. is hoping that Burton and Downey commit soon so the project can be fast-tracked.
If deals are made, Pinocchio would return Downey to Warners, which is behind his Sherlock Holmes franchise, the latest installment of which currently is in theaters. Downey also starred in the 2010 Warners comedy Due Date.
Burton is currently at work finishing Warner Bros.' Dark Shadows, based on the cult television series. That film is set for release in May. [...]
There are several other Pinocchio projects in various stages of development, including a stop-motion version being shepherded by Guillermo Del Toro.

[15.10.2011] Deadline berichtet über ein "Pinocchio"-Prequel...
20th Century Fox has acquired the spec script The Three Misfortunes of Geppetto for Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps. Levy is attached to direct the script by Michael Vukadinovich. It’s a prequel to the story of Pinocchio, in which Geppetto endures a life of misfortune, war and adventure, all to be with Julia Moon, his true love. The sweep is reminiscent of Big Fish or The Princess Bride and it creates a fresh way into the Pinocchio story at a time when revisionist fairy tales are dominating the movie landscape. Warner Bros last year set up a live action Pinocchio film that has the interest of Tim Burton. 21 Laps execs Dan Cohen and Billy Rosenberg brought in the script.
The spec went out last night and the mid against high six figure deal just closed. [...]

Guillermo Del Toro and The Jim Henson Company have joined forces with Pathe to develop and produce a 3D stop motion animated version of PINOCCHIO based on the edition of Carlo Collodi's classic tale illustrated by Gris Grimly. Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson (Animation Director on THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX). The team plans to move forward with production of the film later in 2011.
In this new version of one of the world's best-loved tales, the puppet Pinocchio embarks on a series of extraordinary and thrilling adventures, proving himself to be as indestructible as his love for his father.
Del Toro and his frequent collaborator Matthew Robbins have been developing the screen story over the past year, and Robbins wrote the screenplay. Del Toro will produce with Lisa Henson and Jason Lust of The Jim Henson Company and Allison Abbate (THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX, TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE, FRANKENWEENIE). Gary Ungar will serve as executive producer, as will Francois Ivernel and Cameron McCracken for Pathe. Veteran rock musician and film composer Nick Cave will serve as music consultant for the production.
The team will develop the puppets and other 3D elements with UK-based MacKinnon and Saunders, which has performed the same duties on THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX and TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE and FRANKENWEENIE.
"I believe that our tale of PINOCCHIO recaptures the darker, more daunting aspects of the book that have been missing from previous film incarnations and takes advantage of all the allegorical aspects of the tale. Gris and Mark have a clear vision of this world. Matthew, the directors and I have constructed an adaptation that I feel enormously proud of," said Guillermo Del Toro.
"Stop motion animation will be a new style of telling this well-known tale, a hand-crafted style with which we were eager to work since it requires a high level of artistry and craftsmanship that is similar to the work of The Jim Henson Company," said Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company.
"There is a perfect match between the visionary world of Guillermo, the story of Pinocchio and Gris' wonderful illustrations. The talent and experience of the Henson team will ensure that Gris, Mark and Guillermo's vision comes to life in the most thrilling way," said Francois Ivernel, Executive Vice-President, Pathe.

Pinocchio first appeared in the 19th Century book "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi. Walt Disney produced the first feature version of the story with his animated "Pinocchio" in 1940.
"Pinocchio" is the latest in a long list of projects to which del Toro's attached. Top priority is New Line and MGM's "The Hobbit," the two-picture project he's committed the next five years to as director and co-writer with Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
He also has a three-year first-look deal with Universal, where he's setting up remakes of "Frankenstein," "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Slaughterhouse-Five" and an adaptation of "Drood" and several other projects [...]

McDowell will voice Mayor Scamboli, the technocratic megalomaniacal leader of Scamboville; Mandel voices Gepetto's trusted cyborg penguin assistant, Spencer; and Goldberg voices good fairy Cyberina.

[...] There is only one word that can truly sum up Begigni’s PINNOCHIO - catastrophic. The film is a catastrophic disaster of such epic proportions that Irwin Allen could have used it as the basis for one of his all-star disaster pics. It fails on every single level. Nothing works. Nothing. PINNOCHIO aspires to be whimsical, magical, funny, and heartwarming. It fails and fails miserably. Instead the film is annoying, incoherent, unfunny, and virtually unwatchable. Even the life lessons the story teaches ring hollow. Worst of all, the film is extremely boring. [...]

[17.10.2002] Bei Caltanet gibt es mehrere "Pinocchio"-Szenenbilder...

[08.10.2002] Die NZ meldet...
