[29.03.2012] Wie
THR meldet, scheint man eine TV-Version zu planen...
Rosario Dawson is teaming with The Walking Dead's Gale Anne Hurd to bring her graphic novel to A&E.
The drama project, O.C.T., is being developed with both women attached as executive producers. Though O.C.T. -- an acronym for the NYPD’s Occult Crimes Taskforce -- is still in its early stages, it is being considered as a star vehicle for the Sin City actress.
The scripted drama, an increasingly appealing genre for the cable network, will explore the inner workings of the task force, which was established after the Civil War to make the New York City streets safe from practitioners of black magic, demons from another dimension and all manner of supernatural malcontents.
Like the graphic novel, co-created by Dawson and David Atchison, O.C.T. will center on the character of Sophia Ortiz, a new member of the bureau who uses magic, spells, ghosts, the undead and the unnatural. At the heart of the story is an ongoing struggle between the O.C.T. detectives and an organized demon-force attempting to take over Manhattan. (At one point, Dimension Films was developing a big-screen version.)
News of the project comes as A&E wraps up its best quarter on record, with the network best known for Hoarders and Storage Wars posting gains in the key adults 25-to-54 demo (now averaging 819,000 viewers) and with total viewers (1.6 million). If ultimately ordered to series, O.C.T. would join a scripted slate that includes The Glades, Breakout Kings and the upcoming Longmire.
The script will be penned by The Unusuals’ Jorge Zamacona, who also will serve as a producer alongside Dawson and Hurd, who is particularly well-versed in the graphic novel to TV business as evidenced by the success of AMC's Walking Dead. Atchison, Ford Gilmore and Tony Shasteen, the graphic novel's illustrator, will join them as producers. [...]

[06.03.2009] CS! sprach mit Rosario Dawson...
Q: [...] What's going on with your comic book?
Dawson:
O.C.T.? We're in the process of ascertaining the rights back from Dimension [and] taking it possibly someplace else.
Q: But what about actually the series?
Dawson:
Oh the book. We have a miniseries that we wrote over a year ago that we're still getting things done. Our artist does all the art from cover to cover. It's not something we're obviously getting paid to do. It's a real love passion kind of project. I think we're going to have a preview book that we're going to put out at San Diego Comic-Con and that will have some stuff from the miniseries. Eventually we'll be hopefully be able to put that out by next year.
Q: Would you ever like to make a movie based on your comic book?
Dawson:
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. We're developing it. We had it with Dimension and we're starting to see about it taking it someplace else. We've got writers that we really like and it's about greenlighting a picture. The more you all talk about it the more possible that will be so help me out a little bit.

[09.12.2008] IESB sprach kürzlich mit Rosario Dawson über den Stand der Dinge...
[...] she said that her comic book property O.C.T. (Occult Task Force) is leaving The Weinstein Company where it was optioned for a feature film deal with Dimension.
She says the O.C.T. property has been relegated to the backburner position and she has decided to take it elsewhere.
She is also attached to star as Sophia Ortiz and produce under her Trybe banner. [...]

[24.09.2008] MTV sprach kürzlich mit Rosario Dawson über den Stand der Dinge...
[...] "We are in negotiations to hopefully get ["O.C.T."] out from the Weinstein Company and put it someplace else," said Dawson, "and when we do that, we can start concentrating on it again."
Dawson said she and her "O.C.T." co-creators hope to have a new miniseries published in the near future, but wants to be sure their respective workloads don’t cause major, mid-story delays. [...]
As for a timetable on the film adaptation, Dawson told MTV she hopes to see "O.C.T." in theaters (or at least in production) within the next three years, adding that the title has built up an "interesting fan base."
"We’ve had so much fun with it, and we’re not tired of the story yet," she added. "We want to explore it so much more, so I think there’s definitely room for it to be a really great film if we are blessed."

[28.09.2006] JoBlo.com meldet...
Rosario Dawson has signed a deal with Dimension Films to bring her comic book, OCCULT CRIMES TASKFORCE, to the big-screen. Under the deal, Dawson would star in, produce and co-write the comic adaptation for the Weinsteins. In the film, she'd star as a New York detective who's assigned to a brutal murder and is enlisted for a covert police squad that uses black arts and mystical weaponry to hunt down the persons or things responsible. Dawson and the Weinsteins have worked together quite a bit lately with CLERKS 2 and SIN CITY and has GRINDHOUSE and KILLSHOT still on the way. Dawson, who was at Comic-Con promoting the comic, created the comic with David Atchison and Tony Shasteen. She was reportedly inspired to develop her own comic after filming SIN CITY and working with Frank Miller, one of her heroes. Dawson can be seen starting next week in the indie drama A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS.

[20.07.2006] Cinematical meldet...
[...] Dawson also reminded us of her own comic book project Occult Crimes Taskforce, and indicated she'd like to turn it into a movie some day -- starring herself, of course, as Sophia Oritz. Dawson was forceful and confident about the issue, saying "we're definitely doing to do the film, that's definitely going to happen." [...]

[22.02.2006] Comics Continuum meldet...
Rosario Dawson, David Atchison and Tony Shasteen on Tuesday announced that their new mini-series, the Occult Crimes Taskforce, will now be published through Image Comics, starting this July.
"We are very excited about our new home," Sahsteen said. "Image Comics and the guys at 12 Gauge are helping us make the book the best it can possibly be. The interest Speakeasy Comics showed in publishing the O.C.T. was greatly appreciated. However, due to recent changes in their direction, we didn't feel our book fit with them at this time."
12 Gauge Comics President Keven Gardner added, ³When we found out the O.C.T. was looking for a home, we jumped at the chance to be involved. We're proud and honored to be a part of what promises to be an industry-expanding event."
Thanks to his long-standing association, Gardner brought the book to Image Comics, where it was accepted to appear in the July catalog.
"Releasing this book in July works out perfectly, as Rosario will be making convention appearances with us to help promote the book," Gardner said. "Look for announcements on that front very soon."
"I'm excited about this adventure we're about to take, and I'm really excited about meeting all the comic fans," said Dawson, who has starred in comics-based films Sin City, Men in Black II and Josie and the Pussycats. "I'm also excited to be working on a project that's fun, but not necessarily a film. This is a completely different genre, but is no less interesting."
Here's how Image describes the book, which is written by David Atchison and drawn by Shasten:
"The Occult Crimes Taskforce follows the exploits of rookie Detective Sophia Ortiz (modeled after Dawson), who is recruited into the ranks of a covert police investigation unit established to monitor and control supernatural activity in the Manhattan Underground."
