Raizo (Rain, u.a. "Speed Racer") ist einer der gefährlichsten Auftragskiller der Welt - seit ihn der Ozuno Clan als Kind aus der Gosse geholt und zu einer perfekten Tötungsmaschine ausgebildet hat. Aber als die Geheimorganisation, die viele bloß für einen Mythos halten, eine Freundin gnadenlos hinrichtet, bricht Raizo mit dem Clan...und verschwindet.
Jetzt wartet er auf den passenden Moment, seine akribisch vorbereitete Rache auszuführen. Europol-Agentin Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris, u.a. "Fluch der Karibik - Am Ende der Welt", "28 Days Later") entdeckt derweil in Berlin undurchsichtige Finanzgeschäfte, die ein Netzwerk von mysteriösen Killern aus dem Fernen Osten mit einigen politischen Morden in Verbindung bringt. Entgegen den Anweisungen ihres Vorgesetzten Ryan Maslow, sucht sie weiter in streng geheimen Unterlagen, um die Wahrheit an Tageslicht zu bringen. Durch die Ermittlungen gerät sie plötzlich selbst ins Visier, und der Ozuno Clans schickt sein Killerteam, angeführt von dem brutalen Takeshi (Rick Yune, u.a. "James Bond 007: Stirb an einem anderen Tag"), um Mika Coretti für immer zum Schweigen zu bringen...

CS! sprach mit dem Regisseur James McTeigue, der auf der Comic-Con ein paar Ausschnitte zeigte... [...] some really impressive action footage [..], a series of quick clips that showcased McTeigue's stylish visuals with bloody sword battles clearly influenced by the same Kurosawa, martial arts and anime flicks that inspired the bloody sword fight from Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1. The footage shown of Korean popstar Rain (Speed Racer) in action was really impressive, certainly on par with what we saw from Zack Snyder's 300 a few years ago, and the amount of blood splatter in the footage puts Ninja Assassin amongst a list of violent and bloody movies which debuted at the con along with Fox's Max Payne and Lionsgate's Punisher: War Zone [...]

CS! meldet... Filming is underway on Ninja Assassin, being directed by James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) from a screenplay by Matthew Sand and J. Michael Straczynski. Joel Silver, Grant Hill, Larry Wachowski and Andy Wachowski are producing, with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and William Fay serving as executive producers.
Ninja Assassin stars Korean pop star Rain (Speed Racer) as the central character, Raizo; Naomie Harris (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) as Europol researcher Mika Coretti; Ben Miles (V For Vendetta) as Europol Agent Ryan Maslow; legendary martial arts performer Sho Kosugi (Revenge of the Ninja) as the ruthless leader of the Ozunu Clan; and Rick Yune (Die Another Day) as Raizo's rival, Takeshi.
Principal photography is taking place at Babelsberg Studios and on location in various parts of Berlin.
Ninja Assassin follows Raizo (Rain), one of the deadliest assassins in the world. Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them... and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge.
In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive...and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.
The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Karl Walter Lindenlaub, production designer Graham "Grace" Walker, costume designer Carlo Poggioli and editor Giancarlo Ganziano. The Wachowski brothers’ longtime stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are also on board as second unit co-directors.
Ninja Assassin is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation in association with Legendary Pictures and Dark Castle Entertainment.

Rick Yune has been cast as the antagonist in "Ninja Assassin," the Wachowskis-produced action film James McTeigue is directing for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Joel Silver is producing via Dark Castle, while Grant Hill is producing.
Also boarding the production are Naomie Harris as the female lead and Ben Miles.
The martial arts extravaganza stars Korean actor-singer Rain, who also appears in the siblings' "Speed Racer," as a man brought up in an orphanage functioning as a ninja farm. The man turns his back on his tradition to make his way in the modern world, which brings him into conflict with a ninja (Yune) from the clan.
"Not to give too much away, (but) my character stays within what he was brought up with, and they go up against each other," Yune said. "I'm not a heavy. The characters are ninjas, they are assassins, and there's this mix of morality the Wachowskis are exploring."
