Chris O'Donnell and Jack McBrayer are the live-action stars of Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," which is being directed by Brad Peyton.
Andrew Lazar is producing the CGI-blended movie via his Mad Chance banner along with former Warner Independent head Polly Cohen.
The movie continues the story of the battle between cats and dogs for control of Earth. Ron Friedman and Steve Bencich -- who have made family movies and talking animals their bag with "Brother Bear," "Chicken Little" and "Open Season" -- wrote the script.
The movie marks the feature debut of Peyton, who made waves at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival with his acclaimed short, "Evelyn: The Cutest Dead Girl."
The live-action portions of the film already are in production in Vancouver, with voice casting to come.
Miri Yoon is co-producing.
O'Donnell, repped by Endeavor and Untitled, next appears opposite Mark Wahlberg in "Max Payne." [...]

Speaking to Film Monthly, "Deck the Halls" director John Whiteshell (Sure to have a few good DeVito drinking stories, hey?) euthanized plans for a "Cats & Dogs" sequel.
The sequel had been in the works for a couple of years, but they just couldn’t get it together.
"That has pretty much from my end of it, pretty much dead on that.", the filmmaker says. "We never really could get a script that we thought that everybody thought really worked and I think that it’s a very expensive movie to make and I think that Warner Bros really wants to feel like they’ve got the script first and so I haven’t really worked at that actively for a year, year and half."
Tippett Studios - who had worked on the effects for the first film - supervisor Todd LaBonte recently told Moviehole that the company had done a fair bit of work on the sequel.
"There is a sequel, we did tests for it. It has been put on the backburner. We’ve got a different cast of cats and dogs this time. Apparently the sequel is still going to happen but it won’t be with the same voice cast now. Someone named Toby Maguire has become slightly more well known since he voiced the lead character in the film it seems".

Moviehole had the opportunity to talk to animation supervisor Todd LaBonte - from Tippett Studios - about the current status of "Cats and Dogs 2".
A year or so back, the trades announced that it was full speed ahead on a follow-up to the surprise family hit - about a raging war between felines and K-9’s - but we’ve heard very little of it since. "There is a sequel - we did tests for it like two years ago - but it’s been put on the backburner. We’ve got a different cast of cats and dogs this time", tells LaBonte.
Apparently the sequel is still going to happen but it won’t be with the same voice cast now. Someone named Tobey Maguire has become slightly more well-known since he voiced the lead character in the film it seems. "Yeah No Tobey, an all new voice-cast I think". [...]

John Whitesell is in negotiations to direct Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Pictures' live-action/CGI feature "Cats & Dogs 2: Tinkles' Revenge." Andrew Lazar's Mad Chance Prods. is producing. The project, a sequel to the original 2001 film, is expected to be in theaters by summer 2005. The sequel was written by the film's original writers, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. Tab Murphy is revising the script, which will continue the wars between canines and felines. Warners' Greg Silverman and Alysia Cotter are overseeing the project for the studio. "Dogs 2" would mark Whitesell's third consecutive feature film for Warners, following the comedies "Malibu's Most Wanted" and "See Spot Run." The helmer is repped by UTA.

Die Geschichte einer Cartoon-Maus, die zum Menschen aus Fleisch und Blut wird und in die reale Welt von einer Cartoon-Katze verfolgt wird, skriptet Karey Kirkpatrick nach dem Originaldrehbuch von Neil Tolkin. Andrew Licht und Jeffrey A. Mueller produzieren den seit Jahren geplanten Live-Action-CGI-Mix. Howard Rosenman und Brad Grey übernehmen die ausführende Produktion.
