Mit Renée Zellweger (u.a. "Jerry Maguire - Spiel des Lebens"), Hugh Grant (u.a.

Teil "Bridget Joneses' Baby" rückt in greifbare Nähe...

CS! meldet...
Working Title Films has addressed rumors about Bridget Jones's Baby that said Hugh Grant has left the third film due to script problems. Tim Bevan, co-chairman of Working Title Films, released the following statement:
"Reports that Hugh Grant has exited 'Bridget Jones's Baby' are untrue. We are still working on the script, hence the delay to the start of production, but the film is going ahead as planned."
Grant will reunite with Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth for the sequel. [...]

[02.12.2011] Deadline meldet...
The Full Monty helmer Peter Cattaneo is in talks to direct Bridget Jones’s Baby, the Universal Pictures/Working Title sequel that brings back Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Shooting begins early next year. The directing assignment has been open since early October, when Bridesmaids helmer Paul Feig stepped away after working on the most recent script draft. At the time, the feeling was that the Helen Fielding novels and film series has an inherently British sensibility that made it better suited for a British helmer. Cattaneo fits that bill and has been circling the project for some time. Fielding wrote the script with Feig and David Nicholls. Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing with Little Bird Films’ Jonathan Cavendish. [...]

[05.10.2011] Deadline meldet...
Universal Pictures and Working Title Films will need a new director for Bridget Jones 3, and I hear they want a Brit. Paul Feig has withdrawn after developing the most recent draft of the script with the intention to direct. I’m told that both sides agreed it didn’t work out and that maybe this is just a quintessential British comedy that needs a British sensibility. They will set a director soon as they are still slated to start production in January, with Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant all eager to return.
Feig has enough to keep him busy at Universal, where he just directed the sleeper hit Bridesmaids. He’s got two projects there including an untitled comedy that he’s writing to direct for producer Judd Apatow, with the hope that Jon Hamm will play a guy obsessed with a woman who’ll be played by Melissa McCarthy. That certainly puts much of the Bridesmaids team together, and it will have to do until the studio figures out a way to get moving on a Bridesmaids sequel after the first one grossed $286 million worldwide on a $32 million budget.
Hamm was recently quoted saying that Kristen Wiig, who starred in and co-wrote the original, wasn’t likely to come back. I’ve been hearing the same thing for a while, but the studio is hopeful that things have changed since when she was first asked, when the film was just becoming a phenomenon and it was all a bit overwhelming. She’s now doing her final season of Saturday Night Live, and it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to start the next stage of her career with the second installment of a franchise that people actually want to see. Wiig wrote the script with Annie Mumolo, and so far they haven’t even come up with a sequel idea. Of course, Universal has experience continuing hit movies when the original stars don’t return: That happened with The Fast And The Furious when Vin Diesel declined to return for the second film. The franchise did fine anyway, and he’s back now. If the studio can get back Wiig and the cast that includes McCarthy (who is proving herself an accomplished physical comic actress most recently with last weekend’s outrageously funny SNL hosting stint), the sequel makes too much sense not to happen in some form.

[12.08.2011] EW.com meldet...
It’s finally time to re-open the diary: Bridget Jones is returning to the big screen.
EW has confirmed exclusively that Working Title Films, the production company responsible for the first movie released in 2001 and the second one dubbed The Edge of Reason in 2004, is moving ahead with a third installment. Based at Universal, Working Title has been mulling a sequel since 2009. No other details were available, but last year, Bridget costar Colin Firth, who plays lovable Mark Darcy, told EW’s Dave Karger some details about a possible plot. "I can tell you that Bridget and Mark can’t have children, I think that’s the way it goes on," Firth told Karger, who was reporting for Access Hollywood. "So then she makes the huge mistake of going back to Daniel Cleaver [Hugh Grant's character] for long enough to get pregnant. And I think he dumps her, and she’s left stranded, and guess who comes back to rescue her?"
The movies are based on Helen Fielding’s novel of the same name and starred Renee Zellweger as Bridget. The first film was an international hit, taking in a reported $281 million. The second was crucified by the critics but still raked in $262 million worldwide.
Earlier this year, the London Evening Standard reported that Fielding had begun writing the third installment of the best-selling books. At the time, she said there had been discussions about the next film. "I will be working on both the book and the film but I don’t know if they are the same thing yet. It’s not been decided."

[04.03.2011] Der London Evening Standard meldet...
Stock up on the Chardonnay - Bridget Jones is back. Her creator Helen Fielding has finally begun writing the third instalment of the best-selling diaries.Fielding read three pages of new Bridget Jones material at Damian Barr’s Literary Salon at Shoreditch House last night, to hoots of mirth from the audience, and confirmed that, 10 years after The Edge of Reason, the third book was under way. There has been mounting speculation that a third film is also in the works, with reports that Renée Zellweger, who played the lead, would sign up only if she didn’t have to pile on the pounds. But in November the actress said there couldn’t be another movie without the book first. Fielding confirms that there have also been discussions about the next film. "I will be working on both the book and the film but I don’t know if they are the same thing yet. It’s not been decided." One of the themes, said Fielding, will be Bridget having a mid-thirties baby crisis. Her first two books, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, sold 15 million copies between them, and the two films took more than £300 million at the box office. Whether Hugh Grant will reprise his role as the dastardly Daniel Cleaver is uncertain but Colin Firth seems quite amenable to a return as Mark Darcy. "I think the idea of Mark and Daniel and Bridget in advanced stages of deterioration could be quite fun," Firth told the BBC last month. "We’re making a comedy, after all."

Will crazy-as-a-fox Renee Zellweger return for a third "Bridget Jones"? (Colin Firth probably hopes so).
According to the twitchy Oscar Winner herself, there’s no plans at the moment - despite recent rumours to the contrary - for the frumpy loser-in-love to feature in a third film.
"It's like all the other rumours...it's simply not true," Zellweger tells ITV. "It seems there is some kind of talk, but it's not with the people who make the movie or write the books."
"I heard about that in London. I just got back from Vancouver and I got hit with those questions, like, it's a fact and it's signed, sealed and delivered. I thought, ‘Wow! That's a surprise,’ so I called the sources and they said it was bollocks and there is no truth in it at all."
"I don't know if I would. It depends on so many factors. First, Helen Fielding would have to ask me to come back, and then there has to be a script that we can all agree on."
If it were to happen, Zellweger said she would consider eating food again as research. "If it were to happen, then the least of my concerns would be putting the weight on again. I've said it before: I like it when I look a little more voluptuous."
