[...] His most successful bigscreen character, of course, is the hyper-horny snaggletoothed secret agent Austin Powers, and there has been much talk about the possibility of a fourth film in that series over the last few years. For a while, there was talk of a Dr. Evil spin-off film, but I think all of those weird characters need to share the same universe. Taking one of them into a solo film just seems odd. Whatever the case, we haven't' seen the character since 2002's "Goldmember."
No word yet on who will be directing. I would hope Jay Roach returns as well, since I think a lot of the kick of the films is the '60s pop aesthetic, and Roach has been a big part of that since day one. There's also no word yet on a proposed storyline, but I will certainly start digging to see what I can come up with.
Right now, all that's sure is that someone's going to get shagged, and for the first time in a decade, Austin Powers fans are going to have new material to get excited about. [...]
DeadlineHollywoodDaily.com berichtet über den Stand der Dinge in Sachen "Austin Powers 4"...
I'm told that Mike Myers has started writing Austin Powers 4 which will be an homage to his late father. "It's very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life," an insider tells me. As Myers has previously said, this fourth installment of the super spy spoof movie series will focus on Austin's arch-villain Dr. Evil, who was based on Blofeld of the Bond films. But what hasn't been known is that the AP4 plot is really about Dr. Evil and his son (introduced already as Scott Evil, played by Seth Green). [...]
CS! sprach mit dem Drehbuchautor Michael McCullers...
[...] McCullers cut his teeth writing the screenplay for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and then collaborated with Mike Myers on the third installment, so surely he would know about an Austin Powers 4, right?
"I don't know," McCullers answered when we asked him directly about a fourth movie. "I see those rumors like everyone else. I think a lot of them are just rumors. I had not heard that particular rumor. I wait for the phone to ring on that one, you know what I mean? That's my role in that."
That's not to say that Jay Roach and Mike Myers might not be moving ahead without McCullers' involvement, since they knew he was finishing up his own movie, but it seems kinda odd for there to be talk about a fourth "Austin Powers" movie just weeks after the announcement that New Line was being folded into Warner Bros. and months before Myers' return to live action comedy with The Love Guru. Or maybe Bünchen's people just wanted to get her a bit of free press. Who knows what is true and how this might pan out but you'd think based on his previous involvement, McCullers would know something about a fourth movie if it actually had a finished script as reported over the weekend. [...]
[...] We're told Gisele Bundchen, who had a bit part in "The Devil Wears Prada," is being considered for the female lead in the new "Austin Powers" film, following in the footsteps of Elizabeth Hurley, Heather Graham, and Beyoncé Knowles. Oh, behave! Word is the 27-year-old Brazilian beauty already has been given the script, and her agent will meet soon with star Mike Myers and director Jay Roach. [...]

MTV.com berichtet über AP4...
For five long years, "Austin Powers" fans have been wondering when they'll see the shagadelic super-spy's next adventure. As it turns out, we've been focusing on the wrong character. "We're developing a fourth [movie], entirely from Dr. Evil's point of view," Mike Myers revealed this week. "That is part of what I've been doing in the last little while." After a four-year absence from the screen, the reclusive comedian is finally ready to make his return following "Shrek the Third" with the "Austin Powers" sequel and the debut of a brand-new franchise character. "I'm starting to film [a movie] in two months called 'The Love Guru' - I'm doing that in August," he said of the comedy, which has taken nearly three years to develop and included the same lengthy trial-and-error comedy-club tour he's used to perfect past characters like Austin Powers. "I take a year to tour the material, like the Marx Brothers did." Discussing the new character, Myers revealed, "It's about a Canadian boy who was left in an ashram in India, grows up to become a guru and is hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup," he grinned. Myers added that his co-stars for the movie will be hired over the next few months, and he'll continue developing the Dr. Evil flick in his spare time. [...]
Moviehole zitiert Demi Moore...
[...] Moore will no doubt be returning to produce the fourth "Austin Powers" film too, but tells the site that she’s keen to be more involved with the next one. "My dream role would be that of a Fembot," she said, "Mike Myers has never offered that to me, which I think is a shame."
EW.com berichtet über AP4...
[...] Time to dust off your best shagadelic jokes - Mike Myers is back, baby! Absent from the big screen since 2003's The Cat in the Hat, the actor - who brilliantly spoofed his recent awkward telethon moment with rapper Kanye West on the Oct. 1 season premiere of Saturday Night Live - is in talks to play Keith Moon in a new biopic about the Who drummer, and is discussing a fourth Austin Powers film for New Line. ''There is hope!'' says Myers of the latter. ''We're all circling and talking to each other. I miss doing the characters.'' [...]

Die Chicago Sun-Times sprach mit Seth Green über AP4...
[...] it doesn't seem like another Austin Powers film will be happening any time soon. Yet Seth Green, who plays Dr. Evil's son, says the popular franchise is not kaput.
"Mike Myers hasn't ever told me that," he said with a heavy sigh.
"Here's the great thing: No one who has anything officially to do with any of the Austin Powers movies has ever said anything about anything when it comes to another film. All these rumors about yes or no are perpetuated by people who are not involved."
He adds that he thinks it might be over. "I kind of felt like the trilogy was wrapped up pretty well. No one is looking for more."
